Operations in the UK and the EU

In 2021 we expanded our services to better serve our customers in Europe. The initial opening of our EU office in 2020, and growth of operations out of it, allowed for a significant improvement in how customers in Europe can get bottles to and from Whisky Auctioneer.

The widening of our core operations into Europe marked a significant milestone for Whisky Auctioneer. We were thrilled that our already established base in Germany facilitated these changes and allowed us to continue to provide an industry leading auction experience for all. 

 

KEY INFORMATION FOR CUSTOMERS

UK AND EU BASED LOTS: 

Whisky Auctioneer operates out of two locations, the UK and the EU. Our customers, no matter where they are on the globe, can utilise our full range of buying and selling services from either location.  

To help you navigate our site and services, our lot listings have icons which help you establish:

  1. Lot Location - This will tell you whether the lot is sold from our UK office in Scotland, or our EU office in Germany.
  2. Relevant Fees / Duties / Taxes / Etc. - Different countries and regions have a wide variety of rules on fees, duties, customs, taxes etc. in relation to the items auctioned on our site.

Before bidding, please make sure you understand how these lot locations will impact you depending on your location.  

SHIPPING AND FEES

We understand that shipping is an important service for our customers. This is why we work hard to develop strong relationships with our delivery partners to ship to as many global locations as possible, stay up to date with all international regulations, keep costs as low as possible and provide the best possible service.

SHIPPING LOTS FROM MULTIPLE LOCATIONS: 

If you have won lots based in both the UK and EU, then these will be shipped separately. You will receive separate shipping/tracking notices and details. We appreciate your patience with this. Please allow 10 days following the payment for those separate shipping/tracking details to come through to you via email.

SWEDEN, FRANCE, ITALY, POLAND, SLOVAKIA AND HUNGARY BASED BUYERS

Before you bid on a UK-based lot, there are three things to note for buyers based in Sweden, France, Italy, Poland, Slovakia or Hungary: 

  1. Please allow up to 6 weeks for your order to arrive.
  2. Please refer to our shipping costs.
  3. An additional charge of 20% of the hammer price will be charged post-auction. This covers any local taxes that would have been payable to receive the order into your country. Therefore, you will not need to pay any local taxes or other import/customs related fees upon receipt of your order. 

PLEASE NOTE: The points above are not applicable when shipping to other locations in the EU/outside the UK for orders based at our UK office.

COUNTRY SPECIFIC CUSTOMS, DUTIES OR FEES: 

Please note that local taxation and customs charges may apply and the Buyer is responsible for both understanding and paying for any local taxation or custom charges if applicable.

We are unable to provide refunds on purchases which have been destroyed, delayed or returned to us due to customs, administrative issues and/or unpaid fees/taxes.
