This Old Pulteney is part of a 2013 series travel retail exclusives, each named after a lighthouse. Matured exclusively in sherry casks, Pentland Skerries is named after the lighthouse located on the archipelago between the mainland and Orkney.
A northern Highland malt distillery that famously produces the Old Pulteney brand of single malt. Located in Wick, it was built in 1826 and despite being shut down Prohibition in the town in 1930, it operates today as part of the Inver House Distillers group.
The official brand name for the single malt produced at the Pulteney distillery. The modern iteration was launched in 1997, however Gordon & MacPhail had bottled the brand under license since the 1960s. As such, they are the only other company permitted to use the Old Pulteney name.
Distillery Bottling is a term used to define a whisky bottled by the company that produced it, using the official branding of the distillery itself. This is also known as an "official bottling" or sometimes shortened to OB.
