Macallan Private Eye
Arguably the most desirable/collectable bottle of Macallan, released in 1996 to mark the 35th Anniversary of Private Eye magazine.
The screen-printed label has been designed by the infamous Gonzo artist and Illustrator of Private Eye magazine Ralph Steadman.
The vatting used in this whisky included one cask from 1961 (#1580) amongst other casks and a total of 5,000 bottles were released.
Bottle 1524 of 5,000.
Please note that this bottle has a black cap which has received some scratches, they are a little uncommon but no less authentic. We don't doubt this bottle for authenticity but because of this we fortunately received a second opinion from Macallan: From Macallan's Customer Service team - Macallan Private Eye bottlings at one time were indeed produced with two different style capsules – the plain black capsule and the capsule with the gold rim.
We also know about a third capsule, but lets not get into that.
We would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids. If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please contact us for a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen in the images.
Please note: Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
