Chateau Latour Grand Vin 1964
From the Paulliac Appellation in the Haute-Medoc sub-region on the left-bank of the Bordeaux. Hugh Johnson (Master of Wine) has said, "If one had to single out one commune of Bordeaux to head the list, there would be no argument. It would be Pauillac."
A Premier Grand Cru Classé (First Growth, the most prestigious of the Bordeaux classifications) wine made exclusively from the 47 hectare l'Enclos vineyard surrounding the Château. The vineyards are today planted 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 20% Merlot and 1% Petite Verdot and boast an average vine age of 50 years.
"Still structured, tightly knit with a lot of vitality despite being 50 years old. Incredible how fresh this bottle is and how the dried fruit characters and tobacco, cedar notes linger on the palate." 96/100 Jeannie Cho Lee (MW) 31-May-2014
