Glencadam 6 Year Old Sherry Casks Special Reserve circa 1950s

A fantastically rare old bottle of Highland single malt whisky from Glencadam distillery.

The distillery was built in the "era of optimism" following the 1823 excise act, passing through the hands of several owners before becoming part of the portfolio of Glasgow blenders, Gilmour Thompson & Co in 1891.

This was bottled in the 1950s using the spring cap closure common for the period. The distillery was sold by A.G. Thompson to Canadian giants, Hiram Walker in 1954, dating this bottle to some point prior to this. A fine example of a post-war vintage Glencadam, this would have been distilled in the latter half of the 1940s.

Glencadam continued producing for the extent of the 20th century, known chiefly as the home of the popular Stewarts Cream of the Barley blend, before being mothballed in 2000. It was re-opened in 2003 by Angus Dundee and has become a well-respected single malt.

Not only is it rare to see Glencadam from this period, but bottled single malt itself. This is a real opportunity to own a true piece of Scotch whisky history.

There are no measurements stated on the bottle.
