Springbank 1968 Chieftain's 35 Year Old
The following lot is for an incredible bottle of Springbank released by Chieftain's who are part of the Ian Macleod portfolio of whiskies.
Ian Macleod's history begins in 1936 when Leonard Russell starts his career as a whisky broker and who would eventually move on to the blending and exporting part of the industry. Leonards's son Peter joined his farther in 1956 and brought a fresh set of eyes to the image of the business. He immediately took charge of a company rebrand and sets up the hugely successful Isle of Skye Blend. At the time of writing the company currently owns the Glengoyne, Tamdhu and Knockando distilleries They are also investing a huge £12 million in the reopening of one of Scotland's much missed Lowland distilleries, Rosebank. If everything goes well, they should be up and running in Autumn 2020.
This Springbank was distilled in October 1968 and laid to rest in single sherry butt #1413 before being bottled 35 years later in November 2003.
