George T Stagg 2005 Release / Spring Lot B

One of three 2005 releases of George T Stagg, first bottled in 2002 and part of what is now known as the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection.

The Antique Collection celebrates historic US whiskey brands, figures and places. George T. Stagg was a 19th century distiller, and the Buffalo Trace distillery was named after him for most of the 20th century.

This "Lot B" is one of the pair that were released in spring 2005 - both distilled in the spring of 1988 (when Buffalo Trace distillery was still called Ancient Age) and matured for 16 years and 8 months in a total of 80 barrels.

Lot B is the slightly higher proof of the two releases, and was available acorss the US, whereas Lot A was exclusive to the state of Kentucky. A third bottling was produced in the autumn.

Lot A was named "World Whiskey of The Year" by Jim Murray in his 2005 Whisky Bible.
