Very Old Fitzgerald 1961 Bonded 8 Year Old 100 Proof / Stitzel-Weller
This was distilled at the Stitzel-Weller distillery while it was still being run by the legendary Julian 'Pappy' Van Winkle, and bottled at the distillery by his son, Julian II in 1966. 'Pappy' had died the previous year, having handed him the reigns in 1964.
These Van Winkle era bottlings from Stitzel-Weller are incredibly sought after, making the "A Collector's Item" text that often appeared on the shoulder label a particularly astute piece of foresight.
Stitzel-Weller was eventually sold in 1972, with the Van Winkle family departing the business in the process.
The neck label has been personalised.
We would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids. If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please contact us for a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen in the images.
Please note: Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
