Clynelish 1965 Cadenhead's 24 Year Old
Cadenhead's are Scotland's oldest independent bottler, operating for over 175 years, but perhaps none of their bottlings are as sought after as these 'dumpy' style bottles. All of these were produced with brown glass and an iconic black label, with each distillery given its own letterpress font in homage to William Cadenhead's early career in the printing business.
This was distilled in 1965 and bottled in July 1989. It will contain pre-closure single malt from the original Clynelish. This distillery was closed in 1968, re-opening as Brora the following year to produce heavily peated whisky for the DCL blends after a drought on Islay left them short of stock. Clynelish single malts from the first distillery are particularly revered.
There are versions of this release with a white Sestante label as well. Sestante founder, Ernesto Mainardi, has disputed their authenticity however, so how they came about remains a mystery!
We would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids. If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please contact us for a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen in the images.
Please note: Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
