Aber Falls Inaugural Release
The first single malt produced in North Wales in over 100 years.
Aber Falls distillery is based in Abergwyngregyn, between the foothills of the Snowdonia Mountains and the Menai Strait. The project began in August 2017 when owners, Halewood International, recruited ex-Dalmore Head Distiller, Lora Hemy, who oversaw the instillation of a 5,000-litre wash still and a 3,600-litre spirit still. The distillery prides itself on its strong ethics, such as supporting Welsh farmers by only using 100% locally grown barley. Like many new distilleries, Aber Falls began producing a range of gins and vodkas while waiting for their single malt stock to reach a suitable age. This inaugural release premiered in May 2021.
This whisky has been produced using 100% Welsh malted barley and aged in a bizarre combination of American Virgin oak, ex-Sherry and ex-Orange Wine casks.
