VAT 69 Scotch Whisky 13 1/3 Fl Oz 1960s
One of the most famous names in the history of Scotch whisky, Vat 69 was first created by Leith-born blender William Sanderson in 1882. The story goes that he invited friends to sample a total of 100 different casks in his possession. After receiving the feedback, it was declared that the 69th cask was the overall favourite, and the name of his blend was born. He enjoyed great success with Vat 69 very early and added the Glen Garioch distillery to his portfolio whist simultaneously helped to set up the North British grain distillery in Edinburgh. Having access to North British stock only strengthened his output and saw his product shipped all over the world. Sanderson died in 1908 only a few years before Ernest Shackleton would carry his famous whisky (for medicinal and celebratory purposes) on his Trans-Antarctic Expedition in 1914. Vat 69 is still produced today and is a true "Cult Classic" of the whisky world.
