KilchArd Blended Malt

We love a good whisky pun here at Whisky Auctioneer, so KilchArd was a welcome touch of levity when it first appeared during a particularly trying period of 2020. Pronounced [Kill-Hard], this blended malt is the result of a dinner joke between the Ardnamurchan distillery's Alex Bruce and Kilchoman's Anthony Wills, after the two realised their surnames combined sound a bit like Bruce Willis, and their distillery's could combine to something adjacent to the actor's finest hour in the 1988 classic movie, Die Hard.

The discussion, which took place following The Whisky Show in London in 2019, quickly grew arms and legs and less than six months later, KilchArd was bottled. The blend feratures a single cask from each distillery. Kilchoman provided a 2013 vintage bourbon barrel, while the Ardnamurchan constituent is a 2015 Pedro Ximenez cask. They were peated to 30ppm and 50ppm respectively, both using Concerto barely.

Of the 686 bottles produced, around 200 were allocated to the Dramfest in New Zealand in February 2020, with the remainder retailing in the UK.

Important Notice

We would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids. If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please contact us for a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen in the images.

Please note: Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
