Littlemill 1975 Scotch Malt Sales 18 Year Old 50cl

Littlemill was one of Scotland's oldest distilleries in its time, with distilling rumoured to have taken place there as far back as the late 18th century. It has a turbulent history of ownership changes and mothballings, as well as briefly experimenting with producing lightly and heavily peated single malts called Dunglass and Dumbuck, respectively. Barton Brands, the owners at the time, called a halt to these in 1971 however. The distillery closed again for a time in the 1980s, with its stills falling silent for the final time in 1994. The distillery buildings were then lost in a fire in 1996, bringing an end to its tumultuous story.

Scotch Malt Sales was a Japanese importer and independent bottler, established in 1980 through the merger of Oskar and Takayara, the former being proprietors of Bar Bowmore in Tokyo. The launched a mail order business for single malts in 1985 and began to bottle their own whiskies in the 1990s.

This bottle is from their earliest 1990s releases, sold in these unususal 50cl sample style bottles. It is generally understood that these were actually re-bottled from old Signatory Vintage dumpy bottlings. In this case, the whisky is likely to be from cask #2144.

It should be understood that these bottles were originally produced without the sealed caps or capsules. Every effort has been made to examine both the liquid and the provenance of theis bottle in order to verify the contents as being original and authentic.

Important Notice

We would recommend viewing/close inspection prior to placing any bids. If this is not an option and you have questions beyond the offered description and images, please contact us for a more in-depth condition report. Otherwise lots will be sold as seen in the images.

Please note: Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against failure/leakage in transit.
