Macallan Legacy Experience for up to 6 People
It may be hard to imagine today, but for much of the 20th century, Macallan was primarily a constituent malt in blends. It was not until the 1980s downturn in the market that the distillery decided to focus on its single malt brand. Fortuitously, this coincided with the crest of a wave of enthusiasm for the high quality releases that the distillery had licensed to Campbell, Hope & King and Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960s and 1970s. These remain some of the most collectible on the market. While global single malt sales volume is still lead by Speyside neighbours, Glenfiddich and Glenlivet, Macallan is easily the most sought after. So much so in fact, that they had to open a brand new distillery in 2018, a subterranean architectural masterpiece within the Easter Elchies estate, boasting 36 copper pot stills.
This Whisky Experience will see guests welcomed with a dram of one of Macallan’s fine single malt whiskies before beginning an exclusive private tour of the distillery. As they are guided through the incredibly unique building by a Macallan Host, they will uncover the passion and craftmanship that goes into every bottle of The Macallan. With this exquisite experience, guests will also be able to explore the unique land and discover the nature on Macallan’s doorstep. They will journey down to the banks of the legendary River Spey, learning about the native wildlife and forests along the way before stopping at The Macallan Fishing Lodge where they will enjoy a dram with The Macallan Ghillie.
They will then marvel at the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding hills of Speyside while enjoying an evening dining experience. The carefully curated menu features fresh, locally sourced and sustainable ingredients. A selection of fine wines will be carefully selected by The Macallan Estate sommelier to accompany your meal. The experience will conclude with a fully guided nosing and tasting held in the extraordinary Cave Privée. As part of the exclusive experience, they will be able to sample some of The Macallan’s most iconic single malt whiskies, including The Macallan 40 Year Old Sherry Oak.
