Glenfiddich 26 Year Old Grande Couronne / Simon Berger

In 2021, Glenfiddich partnered with some of the world’s most exciting artists from 19 countries across the globe, including a special collaboration with renowned contemporary Swiss artist, Simon Berger.

Glenfiddich challenged the artists to take inspiration from the original bottle and packaging design and to put their own maverick spin on it. To turn it into something new, celebratory, fresh and unexpected, thus creating a global collection of objects d’art that marry the rich history of Glenfiddich and local cultures, brought to life through each individual artists’ style.

Simon, represented by Gallery Artstübli in Basel, has a unique talent producing works with a hammer to create portraits in glass. Simon has expertly crafted five one-of-a-kind glass boxes that encase the whisky, exploring depth, perception and reflections, resulting in a series of portraits expertly carved into the glass that he believes convey the emotions of the Glenfiddich brand.

These five works of art have been exclusively paired with the Glenfiddich Grand Couronne to create unique collector's items which will be exclusively offered via Whisky Auctioneer.

A 2021 addition to the Glenfiddich range, the Grande Couronne is a 26 year old expression finished in ex-cognac casks.

Glenfiddich was an early advocate of the single malt Scotch category, and their faith is rewarded today by being one of the best-selling Scotch brands in the world. The distillery was built by William Grant in 1886, distilling its first spirit on Christmas day the following year. Today it is still part of the family-owned, William Grant & Sons. They became the first distillery to actively market their single malt brand in 1963, and were the first to open their facility to visitors. Glenfiddich was an important trailblazer in the whisky industry, who's contribution cannot be forgotten. The scale of their operation today is a testament to this.

These lots are being offered exclusively by Whisky Auctioneer through our September 2021 Auction, which runs from 24.9.21 until 4.10.21.

The bottles and cases will be delivered to our Germany office during the auction, direct from the artist's studio in Switzerland. The promotional images used for the lot photographs are accurate representations of each artwork.
