Diageo unveil teaser details of their 2019 Special Releases Collection Diageo Special Releases: 2019 Line-Up Revealed

Back to news

It's that time of year again, whisky devotees rejoice! Diageo have unveiled early details of their shiny new 2019 Special Releases Collection, which features eight "one-of-a-kind" whiskies, compared to their usual ten. The 2019 collection, selected by master blender Dr Craig Wilson, honours a "Rare by Nature" theme which celebrates the special and varied surroundings of each distillery in the range.

This years early announcement featured the distillery and age of the whisky, along with a little tidbit of information, shedding some light on what we can expect.

Cardhu 14 Years Old

A supremely elegant and unique expression of our warm-hearted Speyside Scotch.

Cragganmore 12 Years Old

A complex and intriguing bottling that combines Speyside elegance with a touch of spice and smoke.

Dalwhinnie 30 Years Old

An extra matured and unusual older expression which retains its undeniably gentle character.

Lagavulin 12 Years Old

A truly spirited, yet youthful, expression from our iconic Islay distillery, our home for over 200 years.

Mortlach 26 Years Old

The beast of Dufftown at its most impressive.

Pittyvaich 29 Years Old

A rare sighting from this ghost distillery that delivers a mature and smooth single malt.

Talisker 15 Years Old

A sweet, yet deep and spicy bottling layered with unmistakeable maritime flavours.

The Singleton of Glen Ord

A different and delicious spicier expression, previously never bottled.

Details of pricing, full tasting notes and availability are still to be disclosed by Diageo, however, we expect to see the 2019 Special Releases arrive soon. We will keep our eyes peeled for more announcements, and as soon as we know anything we will share it with you too!

First launched in 2001 with a release of only two bottles (the first Talisker 25 Year Old and the immortal Port Ellen First Release), Diageo have continued to release a new Special Releases Collection each October. The releases are always eagerly anticipated worldwide by whisky enthusiasts and collectors, as it is the perfect opportunity for whisky buffs and novices alike to ferret out truly unique limited editions that are a little out of the ordinary. The Special Releases collection showcase limited (and usually cask-strength) bottlings of iconic classic malts from Diageo's operational distilleries alongside some rare and sought-after stocks from beloved ghost distilleries. The collection is hand-selected each year by their master blending team and said to "represent a fragment of Scotch whisky history".
