A storied distillery in the Sutherland area of Scotland. Despite having closed in 1983, it developed cult status for the high quality single malt it had produced, particularly a peated style between 1969 and 1973. Such was its popularity, it was eventually rebuilt by Diageo and opened again in 2021.
A Scotch whisky company with origins dating back to 1796. In the 20th century it was acquired by Peter J. Russell who operated it as one of its subsidiaries alongside Ian Macleod & Co. Today it is a subsidiary of Ian Macleod Distillers and is still named on their Maxell and Dun Bheagan brands.
