John Dewar & Sons is a subsidiary of historic rum producers and multinational drinks company, Barcardi, and is tasked with managing its Scotch whisky portfolio. The company was acquired from Diageo in 1998 and was merged with Bacardi’s William Lawson Distillers.
John Dewar & Sons continues to market both its own and the William Lawson brands, which are the world’s fifth and sixth biggest selling blends, respectively. In 2014 it also announced The Last Great Malts, a new stable of single malts from its distillery portfolio. The collection relaunched the existing Aberfeldy brand and debuted new ones for Aultmore, Craigellachie, Royal Brackla, and The Deveron from Macduff.
