Released in early 2025, the Ultra is another innovative release from Scotland's leading blended whisky producers. The 70cl bottle is the lightest bottle of whisky ever produced, with the glass alone weighing a mere 180 grams. The bottle, in contrast to the long-standing square bottle, has been hand-blown into a tear-drop shape, and features an intricate hollow stopper. Though the release was produced with an intent to reduce the weight of glass and therefore the carbon-footprint of Johnnie Walker packaging, the bottle is presented in a large ornate wooden cage, protected inside a sturdy box.
The blend itself features whisky from Oban, Royal Lochnagar and the revived Brora distillery, along with a variety of undisclosed 'ghost' distilleries.
Please note the glass of this bottle is incredibly thin. Whisky Auctioneer cannot accept responsibility for any damage during transit, including lots sent using Loss & Breakage Assurance.
John Walker & Sons is a dormant subsidiary of the global drinks giant, Diageo, and its Johnnie Walker whiskies are its sales-leading brand. In addition, John Walker & Sons is also a brand name used by Diageo to market premium and prestige blends, elevated in price and stature from the regular Johnnie Walker stable.
Although best known by the Johnnie Walker brand and its iconic striding man motif, the company is also synonymous with a number of single malt distilleries and has marketed brands for Cardhu, Mortlach and Talisker in the past.
