This Machrie Moor limited edition was released to celebrate the opening of the Lagg distillery on Arran in 2019, but the spirit itself was produced at its sister distillery on the island, Lochranza.
One of two malt whisky distilleries owned by Isle of Arran Distillers, Lochranza was the first to be opened in 1995. The distillery's flagship single malt brand is the Arran label and although it now only distils a non-peated whisky, it has historically produced peated single malt as well.
Launched in 2010, Machrie Moor is a brand of peated single malt whisky distilled at Lochranza and marketed by Isle of Arran Distillers. As of 2019 no new spirit has been produced for the label as the company moved all peated production to its new Lagg distillery which has its own single malt brand.
Distillery Bottling is a term used to define a whisky bottled by the company that produced it, using the official branding of the distillery itself. This is also known as an "official bottling" or sometimes shortened to OB.
