This version of the 12 year old age-statement was launched by Allied Distillers in 1991 as part of the Caledonian Malts range (intended to compete with United Distillers' Classic Malts), alongside revamped core expressions from Tormore, Laphroaig and Glendronach. Official bottlings of Miltonduff disappeared when the distillery was sold to Pernod-Ricard in 2005, and it was not until 2017 that a permanent distillery bottling would return; a 15 year old under the Ballantine's banner.
A Speyside malt distillery and essential component of the Ballantine's blended Scotch recipe. So much so in fact that its single malt is marketed today by Chivas Brothers under the Ballantine's branding.
Distillery Bottling is a term used to define a whisky bottled by the company that produced it, using the official branding of the distillery itself. This is also known as an "official bottling" or sometimes shortened to OB.
