Sestante

Sestante was an Italian import company founded in 1979 by Ernesto Mainardi. The company acted as one of the agents in Italy for Gordon & MacPhail products and in 1984 it began to import bottlings with its own special label designs. Many of these have become highly prized by collectors. A former employee of Co. Import in Pinerolo, Mainardi was inspired by its use of Edinburgh Crystal decanters and often replicated the practice with many his own whiskies.

The company was wound up in the 1990s and Mainardi imported whiskies under several other names (such as Decanter) before establishing the Silver Seal Whisky Company as its proper successor.
