Whitebread is a multinational British hotel and restaurant company that had significant holdings in the Scotch whisky industry in the 1970s and 1980s.
Among the company’s assets at the time were the Laphroaig, Tormore, Glenugie and Kinclaith malt distilleries, Strathclyde grain complex and the Long John and Black Bottle blended Scotch brands. The company eventually divested from whisky to focus on other businesses, selling its spirits division to Allied Lyons in 1989.
