The Committee Releases are an ongoing series of exclusive bottlings of Ardbeg single malt, bottled by the distillery especially for members of its official fan group, the Ardbeg Committee. The group was established on 1st January 2000 and its founding members were given access to several 1970s vintage single casks.

Members of the Committee are also given the option to purchase exclusive bottlings that include experimental "for discussion" expressions and advance cask strength samples of upcoming limited editions.

A celebration of the Ardbeg 17-year-old release of the late 1990s, the team at Ardbeg recreated the original which was one of the first bottlings to leave the distillery after the reopening in 1997. Matured in ex-bourbon casks, this was released to Ardbeg Committee members in September 2024.

Ardbeg 1976 Single Sherry Cask #2394 / Committee Release

Released in 2004, this was a combination of unusual non-peated Ardbeg and lightly-peated Ardbeg. It is known that these experimental distillations took place between 1979 and 1981.

This is the very first release of Ardbeg Very Young, bottled ‘For Discussion’ for the Ardbeg Committee. Containing some of the first spirit created under the ownership of Glenmorangie PLC, this was distilled during 1997 and bottled on 12th November 2003.

Bottled for the Ardbeg Committee, this was released in June 2011. Ardbeg Alligator takes its name from the aggressive charring of the American oak casks the whisky was matured in. This charring level is known as the Alligator char because the cracking of the wood under the heat looks similar to the skin of the eponymous reptile.
