Sazerac Rye is a brand of straight rye whiskey produced at Buffalo Trace distillery. It was introduced in 2000 as part of the Sazerac Company's inaugural Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC) and was bottled from a batch of legendary rye whiskey distilled by Schenley Industries in the 1980s. Always aged 18 years, the label remains one of the flagship names within the sought-after annual BTAC release.
A proprietary Sazerac Rye release also debuted in 2006 and is widely distributed as well as being available within the Sazerac Company's Single Barrel Select programme. Prior to this however, a Sazerac 18 year old was launched in 2000 as part of what is now the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection (BTAC). These were bottled from a legendary batch of rye whiskey originally distilled by Schenley Industries at Buffalo Trace when it was still known as George T. Stagg. Production began in 1982 with the intention of releasing a rye line for its popular Cream of Kentucky brand. The company sold the distillery the following year however, and ...
