Glen Keith is a Speyside malt distillery, built in 1957 by the Canadian distilling giant, Seagram Company, in order to provision its Chivas, Passport and 100 Pipers blends. As such, it was an experimental facility with a range of different stills, trialling different mash and yeast types, and methods of peat smoking. One of the peated variants it produced was the rare Glenisla single malt.

The distillery was closed in 1999 and acquired by Pernod Ricard following the collapse of Seagram in 2001. The French multinational then made the decision to re-open it in 2013, fitting it with new washback and a mash tun in the process.

Although important for blending, Seagram saw fit to introduce a Glen Keith brand as part of its The Heritage Selection single malts stable in 1993, collecting it alongside Strathisla, Benriach and Longmorn. Its debut offering was a 1983 vintage, which was replaced by a 10-year-old age statement the following year.

Having been mothballed not long after, the Glen Keith brand sadly disappeared and was not revived until several years after its re-opening by Pernod Ricard. The Glen Keith brand was officially relaunched in 2017 with the introduction of the non-age statement Distillery Edition, which replaced the briefly-produced Glenallachie expression of the same name in the company's portfolio (having sold the distillery just months after its launch).

In 2019, Glen Keith was then bundled again into a collection of brands with neighbouring Speyside distilleries. This time it rubbed shoulders with Caperdonich, Braes of Glenlivet and Longmorn in Chivas Brothers' Secret Speyside collection, which supplements the Glen Keith range with premium limited editions of small batch and, for the first time, single cask releases.
