Penderyn is a Welsh single malt whisky distillery located within the Brecon Beacons national park and named after the town in which it is located. It was established by The Welsh Whisky Company in 2000 and equipped with a specially commissioned Faraday still - designed for it by David Faraday at the University of Surrey using a development funding grant from the EU. A second Faraday still was later installed along with two pot stills in 2014.

Originally known as Gwalia, the distillery is now referred to by the name of its single malt brand which is a non-peated Welsh single malt. In 2021 a sister distillery was built in LLandudno to produce peated whisky.

The Penderyn single malt brand was introduced in January 2004 with the launch of its 450-bottle First Release, followed by the Millennium Cask single cask release the following month. The core range Madeira cask-finished Aur Cymru was then introduced later that year with a newly designed brand image and bottle shape.

Today the Madeira finish remains part of the flagship Gold range alongside a peated cask-finish, Sherrywood, Portwood and the Kosher certified Rich Oak. In 2015 the distillery launched its entry level Dragon range which features a different (more environmentally sustainable) bottle design and comprises the non-age statement Legend, Myth and Celt expressions.
