The Teeling distillery was opened in 2015 and was the first new producer in Dublin for over 125 years. It is located in the city's historic Liberties region and was opened by Jack and Stephen Teeling via The Teeling Whiskey Company. Bacardi Limited acquired a 40% stake in business in 2017 before becoming majority owners of the distillery in 2023.
Production at the distillery is all pot still and it produces both single malt and single pot still Irish whiskey for the Teeling brand.
The Teeling Whiskey brand was launched by Jack and Stephen Teeling in 2012 and was originally bottled using the 16,000 casks of aged stock that they retained in the deal that saw their father John sell Cooley distillery to Beam, Inc the year prior. Early releases were the Vintage Reserve single malts, later supplemented by blended Irish whiskeys and also some single grain bottlings as well.
The first Teeling release to contain whiskey distilled at the distillery itself was a single pot still release launched in 2018 and auctioned exclusively by Whisky Auctioneer. This was followed by a peated single malt called Blackpitts in 2020. Today the Teeling range remains varied and bottlings continue to feature both sourced stock from Cooley (and other distilleries) as well as in-house production.
