Join Us in London: Old & Rare Whisky Tasting with Kythe - Tickets On Sale

Back to news

Whisky Auctioneer is excited to announce that we will be partnering with Kythe Distillery to present an Old and Rare whisky tasting in London on 29th May 2025. The evening will be guided by Angus MacRaild and Jonny McMillan, two of the foremost authorities on old-style Scotch and co-founders of Kythe – a new Highland distillery dedicated to reviving the traditional methods and flavours that defined the golden era of single malt.

This tasting is more than a gathering of fine old bottles. Together, we will explore an era, a style of whisky extinct from the Scotch landscape, and the principles that Kythe seeks to revive. The event is a tribute to the lost character of Scots' single malt - the weight, the texture, the profound depth of flavour that once defined it.Whisky Auctioneer has worked with Angus and Jonny to curate a line-up that speaks to Kythe's philosophy, selecting bottles that embody the hallmarks of old-style production. These are whiskies born of floor malted heritage grains, long fermentations driven by brewer's yeast and direct-fired stills - expressions that whisper of an industry before efficiency took precedence over character. With each dram, we will explore a different aspect of old-style character. For those captivated by the old and rare, this is a rare chance to experience the past in its truest form - and glimpse what Kythe intends to bring back to life.

Meet Kythe Distillery

Founded by Jonny McMillan, Angus MacRaild and Aaron Chan, lifelong friends and 'old-style' whisky obsessives - Kythe is a new Highland distillery that’s set to do things very differently. And, in our opinion, very right. They are ditching the modern playbook in favour of old style beauty, texture and character.

From floor malted heritage barley and brewers’ yeast to Scotland’s only live direct-fired pot still on this scale, Kythe is bringing the spirit of old-style whisky back to life and doing it with serious intent. You can read a full interview with co-founders Jonny McMillan and Angus MacRaild over on our News section.

If you’re as excited as we are about what Kythe is building, we’d recommend you to sign up to their mailing list at kythedistillery.com. Beyond securing early access to Kythe’s inaugural cask programme, signing up to the mailing list grants an inside track on everything shaping the distillery’s journey. Subscribers will be the first to hear as production fires into life, but more than that, they’ll gain exclusive insights - dispatches from the tun room and deep dives into the philosophy behind Kythe’s production.
