Dalmore 1967 Sirius 44 Year Old

Dalmore is undoubtedly the prize single malt in the Whyte & Mackay portfolio. This was not always the case though. The blenders purchased it from the Mackenzie family in 1960, having been long-standing customers. Due to the long-running importance of it to their blends, their distillery bottlings of its single malt were limited to a 12 year old expression. Nowadays however, it is positioned as a luxury brand, rubbing shoulder with the likes of Macallan, and is globally recognised. Independent releases like this are hard to come by.

A single cask, this was bottled by Sirius Whisky Purveyors. It was distilled in 1967 and then filled into cask number #2055 on February 24th.

One of only 89 bottles produced.

Dallas Dhu 1971 Gordon and MacPhail Private Collection

In its time a key component of the Roderick Dhu blended Scotch, Dallas Dhu is a rarely seen single malt. As with much of the DCL (now Diageo) portfolio, the distillery was deemed surplus to requirements during the market downturn of the 1980s, and closed in 1983. It is now run as a distillery museum by Historic Environment Scotland. Very few official bottlings exist, and it is incredibly sought after when rare independent bottlings appear.

This spectacular vintage bottling was distilled on in 1971 and bottled in 2021.

Gordon & MacPhail are one of the largest and most recognisable whisky companies in the world. Although they began distilling at the newly refurbished Benromach distillery in 1998, for most of their history they were an independent bottler. Their labels are recognised by whisky lovers the world over, and their licensed bottlings from distillery's like Macallan and Talisker in the 1970s and 1980s, when the companies were not bottling themselves, are a huge part of the success of those distillers today.

Part of the 'Private Collection' launched in December 2018 as part of a wider overhaul of the range that sees G&M keeping trend with the move towards cask strength and single cask bottlings.

A single cask Dallas Dhu bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, distilled in 1971 and bottled in Febuary1995.

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) was founded in 1983 by a group of friends lead by tax accountant Phillip ‘Pip’ Hills as a private members club. The concept behind the society was to source casks from all over Scotland which would then be bottled and made available exclusively to its members. Perhaps the most famous feature of these bottles are the unique codes. Each distillery is represented by a different number and the following digits indicate that particular release. That same year, the SMWS set up its first location in Leith’s Vault buildings in Edinburgh where it still stands today

Dornoch 2017 Single Oloroso Cask #001 50cl / Inaugural Release

The Thompson Brothers began their whisky bottling enterprise in 2013, establishing the Black Isle Whisky Company in their native Dornoch. The brothers, Simon and Philip, renamed the operation as the Dornoch Distilling Company in 2015, opening the Dornoch distillery the following year. Located in a tiny 19th century fire station in the grounds of Dornoch Castle, they began distilling in July 2017. They only use organic strains of heritage barley such as Plumage Archer and Maris Otter and at 216 hours, the distillery's fermentation process may be the longest in Scotland. Such long fermentation will result in a spirit with a fruity and complex flavour profile. The company has the capability to produce 12,000 litres of spirit annually and their very first single malt was released in November 2020.

This whisky was distilled on 5th July 2017 and matured in first-fill ex-Oloroso sherry butt #001.

Dufftown 21 Year Old Moon Import / The Cars

Moon Import was founded by Pepi Mongiardino in 1980 and he bottled his first whisky in 1982. Always beautifully labelled, Pepi is acclaimed for designing the packaging for Moon Import bottles himself, often using images found in old books. These iconic designs, coupled with the quality of the liquid saw Moon Import steadily grow in popularity. The company is still going strong, and their early releases are some of the brightest gems in any whisky collection.

This 21 year old Dufftown is part of The Cars series and features an American \"22-B\" Roadster on the label. One of 234 bottles.

Dufftown was built in 1896, becoming part of the Arthur Bell & Sons portfolio in 1933. As with Blair Athol, Dufftown was regularly bottled as a single malt, despite its importance to the Bell's blends. When the company was bought by Guinness in 1985, these bottlings stopped, but a Dufftown distillery bottling returned in 1991 as part of United Distillers’ Flora & Fauna series, later becoming part of The Singleton stable. Prior to the construction of Roseisle, Dufftown was Diageo's largest distillery.

The Rare Malts Selection was a historic selection of single malt whiskies from operational and lost distilleries that were released by Diageo between 1995 and 2005. As with the Flora & Fauna series, they were often from lesser-seen single malt distilleries.

Dailuaine was at a time in the 19th century, Speyside's largest distillery, and it was home to Scotland's first pagoda roofed kiln. That distillery perished in a fire however, in 1917. The newly rebuilt distillery was acquired by DCL (now Diageo) who used its \"meaty\" spirit as a filler for their many blends. As with most of the single malt operations in the Diageo portfolio, the Flora & Fauna release was Dailuaine's first ever distillery bottling.

Its single malt had been available in the form of independent releases like this in the preceding years though.

A very rare bottling of Dailuaine from the well known Italian bottler Samaroli. The label is a replica of the series of classic labels, affectionately termed as the 'Curved Distillery Name' series, released between 1986 and 1992.

Distilled in February 1980 and bottled in 1998 from single cask #1527, this is bottle number 14 of 390.

Samaroli are perhaps Italy's most revered independent bottler of Scotch whisky. With an impeccable taste in single cask whiskies, and an eye for aesthetics (if not English spelling at times!), founder Silvano Samaroli is regarded by many as a visionary. Since his passing in 2017, the company has been run by his friend Antonio Bleve, who continues his tradition of high quality releases. Many of Silvano’s early bottlings occupy deserved spots on the pantheon of all-time whisky greats.

The distillery was granted its license in 2005, but not in a hurry to rush out their product, it was 2018 before their inaugural release. This patience and dedication to their craft has won the distillery an army of passionate fans, among collectors and connoisseurs alike.

This whisky was filled into single ex-Oloroso cask #24 on 7th July 2009. It was selected and bottled for Kirsch Import of Germany in 2021.

Deanston 1977 Thosop 33 Year Old / The Whiskyman

Deanston distillery opened in 1965, and its first single malt was called Old Bannockburn, first bottled in 1971. Invergordon Distillers procured the distillery two years later, and introduced the first Deanston-named single malt in 1974. Sadly, a lack of interest in it saw the distillery mothballed in 1982, and it was not until 1990 when it was bought by Burn Stewart that it was revived and began to flourish. Now part of the Distell group, Deanston has become a global single malt brand.

A rare and unusual bottling of Deanston, distilled in 1977 and bottled by Thosop BVBA in Belgium.

Distributed by The Whiskyman.

Dalwhinnie 1962 Gordon and MacPhail 19 Year Old / Club delle Fattorie

Dalwhinnie was one of the six original Classic Malts when they were selected by United Distillers (now Diageo) back in 1988, and it was tipped to become the favourite among consumers on account of its flawless floral flavours and elegant character. Although eventually pipped at the post by the smoky dark horse that was the Lagavulin 16 year old, it remains a well-loved single malt. The distillery is both the highest and coldest in Scotland, contributing to its unique flavour through the rapid condensing that occurs in its worm tubs.

This hwisky was distilled in 1962 and aged for 19 years.

The Connoisseurs Choice label is one of the most recognisable independent bottlings on the market. It was initially created for renowned Italian importer, Edoardo Giaccone in the early 1970s, but became a mainstay of the core Gordon & MacPhail portfolio in 1979.

Dalmore 21 Year Old 75cl pre-2007 / US Import

Dalmore is undoubtedly the prize single malt in the Whyte & Mackay portfolio. This was not always the case though. The blenders purchased it from the Mackenzie family in 1960, having been long-standing customers. Due to the long-running importance of it to their blends, their distillery bottlings of its single malt were limited to a 12 year old expression. Nowadays however, it is positioned as a luxury brand, rubbing shoulder with the likes of Macallan, and is globally recognised.

For many years the 12 year old was the sole constituent of the Dalmore core range. That changed in 2002 when this 21 year old was added alongside the Cigar Malt.

This version of the 21 year old was produced until 2007 when the core range was rebranded after United Spirits took over the reigns of Whyte & Mackay.

Bidding advice

You can place bids either under the lot image on the main auction page or on the right side of the individual lot page.

Placing a Maximum Bid
Use the "Set your bid limit" button on the left side of the bidding panel to enter the highest amount you're willing to bid on a lot. Our system will then automatically raise your bid in set increments if you’re outbid, up to your maximum. If someone bids above your set limit, we’ll notify you by email so you can choose whether to increase your bid.

Placing a Single Bid
Alternatively, place a single bid by selecting the button on the right side of the bidding panel. The button displays the amount needed for the next increment. For example, if the current highest bid is £50.00, the button will show "+ £55.00" (reflecting a £5.00 increment).

In compliance with EU Directive 2020/262, an excise charge will be applied to all EU Lots (per bottle) for clients based within the EU. This is a legally required charge for alcohol shipments from our Netherlands operations.

If your items are being shipped, this will be calculated during the checkout process. The amount is calculated based on the bottle's size, ABV (alcohol content) and the duty rate of the destination country. It ensures your purchase is fully compliant with local regulations.
