This is an unusual release, bottled by a church! Distilled in 2010, this cask of Auchroisk was finished in a first-fill port cask as of May 2017 and bottled at Aceo's warehouses at the former Coleburn distillery. The cask was selected by Angus Findlay and Graham Peel and the bottling was produced for St. Margaret's church in Aberlour. The 260 bottles were intended for release at the Spirit of Speyside festival in 2020, although the event was sadly cancelled. All of the money raised from the sale of the bottles was donated for maintenance of the 19th-century church building.
A malt distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland and one of many in the extensive portfolio of multinational drinks giant, Diageo. The distillery was built in 1972 by International Distillers & Vintners to assist with the provision of its Justerini & Brooks blended Scotch brands.
Private Bottling is a term used to describe a single cask whisky that has been bottled by someone other than the distillery itself. These differ from independent bottlings in that they are not for retail and generally bottled by private parties or individuals rather than whisky companies.
