A former malt distillery that was located in Inverness, neighbouring the Glen Albyn distillery. It was built in 1894 by Mackinlay's & Birnie before eventually being acquired by the Distillers Company in 1972. It was closed in 1983 and the site demolished three years later.
Rarest of the Rare was an independent brand of single malt and grain Scotch whiskies produced by the bottler, Duncan Taylor. Produced until 2012, the label was reserved for casks in the company's inventory that were filled at since-closed distilleries.
Established in 1936, Duncan Taylor is a historic Scotch whisky company. A cask broker and independent bottler, its brands include the Dimensions, The Octave and Rare Auld single casks, and the blended Scotch labels such as Black Bull and The Big Smoke.
